About Stephen

“There’s no doubt that the music industry has seen its fair share of turmoil and turbulence over the last decade.  Traditional business models are being shattered and that’s leaving the old guard scrambling.  Are they rising to the occasion?

What is clear is the ever-increasing appetite for music, and the desire to share that passion for music.  The playing field is more level now then it has ever been.  This means new, exciting opportunities for artists, for fans, and yes, for the old guard.

From his unique position within the industry, Stephen Bleeker will be discussing the effects that social media has had on the music industry over the last few years from the perspectives of new and established artists, the fans, and the labels.  Discussion will also focus on the new players that have emerged in the music space who and are taking advantage of the technological and social breakthroughs of recent times.

Stephen Bleeker is an award-winning entrepreneur with a unique perspective to share.  For over 20 years, he has been involved with many facets of the industry including indie retail through CD Warehouse (est. 1991), e-commerce via MyMusic .ca (est. 1999), digital fulfillment, web development, 3PL, apparel manufacturing and distribution, and a small music label.  Stephen’s most recent start-up is MyMusic.com, a digital music magazine that utilizes your social graph, music library and more in order to get more relevant and richer the more you use it.”
